Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

DotPoet (“we”, “the app”) is a poetry writing and community platform, available as an app and as a web app at dotpoet.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

In the iOS app, drafts you write stay on your device (and, if you enable it, sync privately to your own iCloud). They are not visible to us or other users unless you publish them. On the web app, writing happens directly against our backend when you publish; nothing is stored server side until you press Publish.

How we use it

We use this data only to run the service — authenticate you, show your published work to other members, and operate community features. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Sign-in providers

If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a verification token and basic profile information (such as your email and name) solely to create your account.

Where your data lives

Account and published content are stored on our backend provider, Supabase. Connections use HTTPS.

The website and web app

dotpoet.com is hosted on Cloudflare Pages; like any web host, Cloudflare processes visitor IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Signing in or creating an account on the web uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-first bot check that runs only on the sign-in page. The web app keeps your session token in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in; signing out removes it. We set no advertising or tracking cookies.

Retention

Your account data and published work are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your profile, published poems, comments, messages, and uploaded files.

Visibility

Published poems, your username, display name, avatar, and bio are visible to other members. Drafts remain private to your device unless published.

Your choices

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and the content associated with it (profile, published poems, comments, and activity).

If you want your data removed but no longer have the app installed, email [email protected] from your account email and we will delete your account and associated data.

Children

DotPoet is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
